Will BRAWM be posting any further test results?
It's been 4 months since the last posted data. Not trying to be a bother, but I think there are many of us who would like to see another test of milk show results below your detection limits. Also, a test of free range eggs would be awesome. This would not be a waste of time.
Thanks,
Casey

I think you have your answer...
...no?

Farns,
LOL ROF LMAO
Seriously, BRAWM did yeoman's work, in a timely fashion. Whilst most everybody else 'sat on their thumbs'.
Still, a funny - snide - observation. One of your better efforts.

Thank you, thank you... but seriously, folks -
Almost ALL of the radiation testing results I have seen here share the characteristic of obfuscation (intentional, I would wager). If you really wanted to do "yeoman's work", you would include a clear graphical respresentation of the radiation in tested samples as a simple multiple of the radiation in the best available pre-Fuku sample. Case in point - SALT SUBSTITUTE! Is it really 5X more radioactive than pre-Fuku? Does it matter where it came from? Is the trend increasing or levelling off? Provide the answers as disinterested scientists instead of nukepimps currying favor - THAT would truly be "yeoman's work"!
Professor Farnsworth
Salt substitutes are made
Salt substitutes are made from mined minerals so how could they possibly be contaminated by any air or waterborne materials from Fukushima?? The only evidence for an increase in the substitutes is clearly due to the methods and instruments used to measure radiation which, it is also clear, do not have any sort of common standard for measurement. Distances from samples, quality of the instruments, their ability to detect and discriminate between different particles, the differences in measuring a sample on a granite kitchen countertop as opposed to a laboratory bench, and a slew of other variables that have been mentioned lead to the laughable and deplorable measurements mentioned.
Consider also that the minerals themselves come from different sources and regions of the world. So how can it be reasonably expected for samples to give any sort of meaning when measured? It's like comparing the sand from Los Alamos to the sand at Coney Island for radiation. Where did the salt substitute with a 5X increase in radiation come from? Was it from the same sources or different?
There is no single standard for measuring radiation in foods. Until a standard is created you will get these extreme variations.
Kelp Salt - Google it!
Dried kelp is 20-25% potassium chloride. It is marketed as a salt substitute. I totally agree with the part of your post where you ask "Where did the salt substitute with a 5X increase in radiation come from? Was it from the same sources or different?" Furthermore, a bit of BRAWM'S energy could be far more usefully and nobly spent in an effort to provide accurate, truthful answers to these questions instead of offering bogus explanations. See http://www.nuc.berkeley.edu/forum/218/potassium-chloride-getting-lots-mo...

Bwahahahahah! The Great Sea
Bwahahahahah!
The Great Sea Salt coverup continues!
Diemos
Yo, Man...
At least, you can say SALT SUBSTITUTE instead of sea salt, can't you? And acknowledge that another reader said I had won that debate, btw!
Professor Farnsworth
Well, I think Diemos won that
Well, I think Diemos won that debate.
Wait ... what debate?
Diemos told you to get up off your lazy ass and do your own measurements. After all, even if BRAWM did some measurements you're not going to believe what those minions of the empire say anyway are you?
So here you go. A nice little turn-key system for analyzing your samples. http://www.canberra.com/products/radiochemistry_lab/pdf/FoodScreen-SS-C3...
Oh, woeful day! Oh, lamentable day! (there's some shakespeare for bill's benefit) how will the global conspiracy to suppress the truth endure if ordinary citizens can simply buy their own measurement systems and do their own measurements?
Now if you want the good stuff you could buy yourself one of these: http://www.canberra.com/products/radiochemistry_lab/pdf/FoodSpec-SS-C388...
I'd get the one ton lead shield myself. You need that to get the natural background low enough to be able to see minute levels of contamination.
Another Poster (not Diemos. Really! Pinkie swear!)
Oh, THAT debate...
... the one mentioned at http://www.nuc.berkeley.edu/forum/218/potassium-chloride-getting-lots-mo...
Also, I recall seeing that Ukrainians who want to know the contamination level in a food sample can take it to any local high school, where a physics teacher will test it in a sensitive chamber-type radiation meter at no charge. Over here, however, a good capitalist can smell the opportunity to exploit the concern of a few among the herds of the uninformed, it seems.

Retail/Wholesale
So Farns,
What is the bottom line COST of these units?
http://www.canberra.com/products/radiochemistry_lab/pdf/FoodScreen-SS-C3...
http://www.canberra.com/products/radiochemistry_lab/pdf/FoodSpec-SS-C388...
To Whom...
... You? Me? The Pacific Rim? Giant Agribusiness? Japanese-American Restauranteurs? Unindicted Co-conspirators?
Professor Farnsworth
How about to anyone willing
How about to anyone willing to phone or e-mail the canberra corporation (http://www.canberra.com/contact/) and say, "Can I get a quote on a FoodScreen Unit?"
How about to someone who wants to translate their impotent yammerings on random websites into actual actions? (which apparently isn't you as that would require you to actually get up off the couch)
Diemos
1 unit: now just $19.5k–$21k
Canberra states--in reply to an inquiry--that it will sell one of its 'FoodScreen' systems to any private citizen for just $19,000–$21,000 (price reflects shipping/handling fee of $500–$1,000).
Maybe neighborhoods having interested households contribute to the cost, and then either sharing the use of the machine between themselves or having a central 'station' for it, would be feasible.

But what about BRAWM'S fabled Germanium Detector?
Is it in hock or something? And what makes you think I would post anywhere else? You know you are my faves...
Professor Farnsworth
Tuna, Salmon & Sturgeon
What do the radionuclide levels look like in Pacific & Left Coast Fish.
We have NOT purchased a bite of North Pacific seafood or 2011 wine, since about March 20, 2011. Bought some & stocked up during the explosions. Knew it was safe.
May have been served a tiny bit at parties, restaurants ...
Mostly unknown fish and wine, is a 'no thanks', but some may have slipped through.
Still waiting on those consistent 'non-detects', before buying again. May NEVER happen. I am ready for that, if that is the way it is.
A Prudent Approach, To Be Sure...
... but do the folks without your foresight & storage capability have any other recourse? If it were common knowledge that these foods were tainted, would there be a black market in pre-Fuku foods? Who should we rely upon for testing info - BRAWM? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
Professor Farnsworth
Sure
Farns,
Sure, just DON'T EAT seafood from the North Pacific Ocean.
That leaves the Arctic, South Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Meditteranean, Carribean, Gulf of Mexico, Red Sea, Caspian Sea ... Inland lakes, rivers, streams and ponds.
The North Pacific Fishing industry and USA-CA-Mx governments will bend to an ECONOMIC boycott of the seafood products.
Same with the Left Coast wines; consumer boycotts will work wonders. The products will have 'certified non-detect stamps' on them in no time.
Smart consumers avoid 'The Poison Aisle'.
To the extent that an informed citizenry 'Will NOT take it', the contaminated and untested food will go away. I stocked up, figuring that it would be awhile, before the governments and industry would respond.
IMHO
Here's the funny thing...
... all I am looking for is information from BRAWM so I can be an informed citizen. Why do I get the feeling that you want to stir up the sleeping masses?
Professor Farnsworth
It is more than a feeling
Because I do want to stir up the sleeping masses.
And forceably throw ALL the rascals out.
How about you? Diemos
How about you?
Diemos
The PFRAWM Foundation??
Well, it's something to think about. Do I go get a grant or something?
