Who is behind ENENEWS???

Who is behind enenews.com, the site known as Energy News, which, for the time being, has been focusing solely on the fallout of the Japanese nuclear disaster?

The short answer is, we don’t know.

A domain registration lookup shows its private registration with the mysteriously named DomainSecrecy.net.

A ping of the domain shows the address of 98.158.182.89, which traces back to the internet domain host provider UK2 Group, which is located in Providence, Utah.

It is a mysterious site, indeed, with no About page, no mention of its authors, contact info, or its sources of funding, despite 144 posts since its inception on March 18, 2011.

With less than one full month online, the site already has a one-month Alexa rating of 129,331th place among over 20 million ranked sites on the Web.

What we do see, however, are scary headlines citing mass media sources, with added editorial.

For instance, the March 29 headline, Radioactive Iodine-131 in Pennsylvania rainwater sample is 3300% above federal drinking water standard.

3300% higher is 33 times higher, but 3300% sounds a lot scarier. The headline also draws a word association between rainwater and drinking water, despite going on to mention the mass media source that says a 3300% higher amount of radioactive iodine in rainwater samples is still 25 times less than would be of concern. Also, nowhere does the article mention that the half-life of radioactive iodine is eight days.

The article, however, adds emphasis in bold to the amount of radiation found in the rainwater samples and to the maximum EPA levels for drinking water, further making an association.

In the meantime, while many Americans are being focused on a very serious crisis for the Japanese, their focus is consequently shifted away from the more directly relevant unlawful presidential war decree on Libya, and the zero prosecutions for fraud against those who knowingly marketed subprime securities as AAA, unlike the more than a thousand convictions of the criminals involved in the far smaller savings and loan crisis of the 1980s.

So what IS your stance here

So what IS your stance here anon? You've trolled away for hours and haven't made any substantial argument or taken a solid stance on any one issue? I'm getting the impression that you have an issue with my having an issue with the promotion of fear and it's consequences and the exploitation of a tragedy for financial gain? Or do you have a problem with the conciseness of my posts?

Looks like someone has their sights on EENews

And some of the posters are in 'attack mode' against UCB and EENews

So far, nothing of substance

Bill Duff

Bill do you really have a lavish house in Patagonia ? Can I go stay there for a while ?? I would take good care of the roses....:)

Don't listen to the two posters below, Bill. They are obviously irritated by some real data, that you have been providing. Let's open up a bottle of wine from Argentina and do a little tango for the irritated folk. Cheers !

Bill Duff

One last thing Bill Duff, IMHO is not into creating fear.

In case you missed it, he talked about taking a grandchild out last weekend to "play in the sandbox." I think he does his homework on the Fukushima issues, and welcome his comments. Nuff said, let's Tango !

Besides if he was that scared and really does own a "lavish house" in the Patagone, then wouldn't he be there right now ?

In case you missed it Bill

In case you missed it Bill has also refused to let a post go by that he disagrees with. He doesn't allow for differing opinions. He is in my opinion a bully and a promoter of fear. And in case you missed it...my post was a sarcastic response to Bill's frequent accusations of SHILL whenever he disagrees with another poster.

Spoken like a true shill,

Spoken like a true shill, multiple personalities and all.

My advice...sell the stock!!!

“Now this conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every Statehouse, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet, we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources, and livelihood are all involved. So is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”

I'm your least favorite

I'm your least favorite Anon. I'm the one you've accused of a number of things...like being a shill or being a jerk that makes light of a situation that could potentially KILL TENS OF THOUSANDS OF KIDS. I'm the raspberry seed in the back of your tooth Bill. You are the ring-master in this circus of fear and "I can already tell I don't like you". Seriously...get a grip Bill. Do I have to start ending posts with "NOT ADDRESSED TO BILL DUFF"?

Let's turn the tables a

Let's turn the tables a little bit here...EVERYONE BEWARE BILL DUFF IS A SHILL FOR "FEAR MOVEMENT". I'm willing to bet he has something to gain from ramping up fear...maybe Bill is running a blog and uses it as an aggregate like ENENEWS. Gathering clicks and supplementing his lavish lifestyle and vacation home in Patagonia. I have a feeling this is all just PROFIT for Bill and a handful of the most "outspoken" fear mongering posters. I think his posts are BIASED and HYPOCRITICAL. There ya go Bill! How does it feel seeing someone post such slanderous accusations based on LITTLE TO NO EVIDENCE on a public forum? Mmmmm...that's good medicine.

Safety

Fear is good. Lack of fear will get you killed. Now take that fear and explore. Grow. Embrace it/your/the fear. Yup, that is your INTUITION asking or maybe DEMANDING information. So don't do deer in the headlights, be responsive and allow curiosity to take over....ah now you see it.... yes?

Fear avoided will bite you in the butt, fear denied will consume you.

Go with fear, find curiosity and return with knowledge, joy and security.

Thanks for the brain-wash.

personal tools

Every 'rites of passage' tradition I know of includes a component of self awareness and control based on this self awareness. A big part of this is being able to step back from the emotional mind while using the emotion in a constructive way. Fear is a big one. It is a healthy response to a threat that has a component of the unknown as long as the void that is fear is replaced with curiosity. For you military types think 'actionable intelligence'. Much of success in life depends on a honest and connection with fear. If upon examination (which is only possible if you can look fear in the face) you decide the fear is really about a possible threat a intentional shift into curiosity is great ! Witness this forum. If the fear is baseless you can let it go. Exercise of a cool intellect in this manner will also deny those that will to control through fear. Fear is only natural. Use it for your PERSONAL benefit.

Personal benefit? You mean

Personal benefit? You mean set up a blog and apply for google adsense and get on board the Google-Whore bandwagon. No thanks. I have some pretty strict ethical and moral qualms with all of this.

It is odd for Anon/EOS to suggest 'fear mongering', when my posts are signed.

How can you not fear when

How can you not fear when little TEPCO is still left to its own devices?

All the resources of the world and still little TEPCO is so much alone as everyone else merely looks on or looks away.

I just don't get it.

I don't fear for myself in

I don't fear for myself in the slightest. I smoked for seven years...I've taken far greater risks with my health. I'm scared for Japan...and the people that can't afford to leave the "VOLUNTARY EVACUATION ZONE". I'm worried about the ocean. I'm afraid for the health of my progeny if things like this continue to happen. How often do you use a cell-phone or a laptop with a wireless card. You've flown maybe? Have you ever eaten chili powder? You were exposed to radiation long before this happened. Do you live in Denver? Ever gotten a sunburn? The list goes on. Road trips. Radon. I'm not a physicist I just play one on TV. The list goes on and on and on...how many times do the BRAWM team have to offer their personal assurances at the cost of their professional and personal credibility that YOU NEED NOT WORRY ABOUT THE LEVELS OF RADIATION DETECTED. This forum will forever serve as a testament to BRAWM's honesty and openness with the public. Am I the only one here that wonders if this is all a bunch of nonsense??? Has anyone else noticed how there are a few posters who perpetuate the fear no matter how often they are proven to be mistaken. Perpetuate...exaggerate...and panic. I wonder how many people log into this forum just for a good laugh before they pop off to bed. Am I wrong here??? Isn't this all getting incredibly self centered and aren't the theories and speculation becoming more outlandish and ridiculous? How much stress has this induced in everyone? How much of our lives dedicated to watching a slow burning radioactive fire 5000 miles away and jumping at every article...every gunderson video...every single damn spark or twitch from the live feed. If it was suddenly "the day after" and I had somehow survived the nuclear apocalypse it wouldn't be the fall out I'd worry about...after seeing how people react to exposure BILLIONS of times lower than we need to be concerned about I'm going to steer clear of the humans. Fear is what scares me most and in my opinion it's being utilized to PROFIT...and that makes me MAD as HELL. What really makes me cringe is thinking about the fact that people watched this happen in Japan and thought to themselves..."oh well there is something I can make a buck on!".

Let me elaborate since my

Let me elaborate since my opponent has taken to arguing semantics here...What scares me most is the thought that some people have mastered the exploitation of fear for profit and power.

Income vs Expense

What roll we play in life SHOULD be separated from revenue and must do no harm. What we DO, how we ACT, WHERE AND HOW WE SPEND OUR MONEY is how we CREATE reality. So I am a whore. I spend the money I earn to better the world. I would rather this than owning stock in GE and driving up wild streams in a 4x4.

I run ENENEWS and collect money when I manage you serve up the dirt on a situation that will cause avoidable and widespread death, illness and diseases for GENERATIONS. You can also donate if you find the service of value.

If reading the postings in ENENEWS cause fear that is really good as long as you let fear take its natural path to curiosity. Enough curiosity leaves no room for fear.

Much love

I COMPLETELY disagree with

I COMPLETELY disagree with you here. Where and how we spend our money is how we create reality?! What the does that even mean? Reality has nothing to do with consumerism. You've removed 90% of LIFE from that equation. Love, Honor, Pride, Ethics, Patriotism, Philanthropy, Empathy, Spirituality...these things are how we define our reality. What the hell does money have to do with it? Money buys me a beer...or some grass...or flowers for my girlfriend...a card for my mom on mothers day. It puts food on the table...sure it has it's purposes but it DOES NOT define our reality. Our interactions with other people and the WORLD defines our reality...the way we choose to interact and interpret the world defines our reality. OUR ETHICS AND INTEGRITY DEFINE OUR REALITY Television and advertising and keeping up with the joneses only make it SEEM like how we spend our money defines us and the world.

macro for the individual

So much of humanity survives as wage slaves. So be it. This is of course a choice but often a choice of roof or no roof, food or no food, etc. Not really a 'choice' on the same level of 'golly, this set of screwdrivers from China sure is cheaper that the set made locally by people paid a fair wage in a plant not polluting the environment". In this consumer / savage capitalist world how we conduct ourselves is very structured save our creative outlet, how we use our income. The one outstanding element of consumer society, of how we CONSTANTLY shape our world via where we put out energy, our intention, our power, our money. This constant shaping we do with out patterns of consumption has created and defined almost everything. Consumerism (most of it mindless) has become a lesser or greater godhead. Your words are correct - "Our interactions with other people and the WORLD defines our reality...the way we choose to interact and interpret the world defines our reality.". The larger point is that for almost all of us that largely (but not exclusively) means what we do with our money. That is my only point. Consume in peace. Thanks for listening.

Oh B.S. More and more

Oh B.S. More and more people are starting to realize that they can live without all the crap that they were told their whole lives they needed to be happy or successful. There is a sea change on the horizon and there is nothing ANYBODY can do to stop it or alter it's course. Society can't be shaped or wrangled...it's self regulating...it's a feedback loop system PirateBay, Wikileaks, Anonymous...this is the future...there's no going back. We shape our world by NOT spending money...the greater the gap between the haves and have nots the quicker that sea change comes about.

hope

Keep the faith.

Gah...Ya know...this is WAY off topic. It's amazing how quickly I let myself get derailed on this thread. Maybe you are right...I must be the lunatic here. YES! You are catching on

YES! You are catching on now! It goes BOTH WAYS! The real battle that has been waged isn't FOR OR AGAINST the nuke industry. The nuke industry is doing just fine...they managed to keep going after TMI and Chernobyl...this event isn't going to be any different. I'm going to wager there aren't ANY nuke shills on this forum. They really don't have to shill for something that is TOO BIG TO FAIL. What this is really about is exploiting those of us who have a fear of radiation and have proven to be an Pre-assembled audience. Just like the zeitgeist movement exploits an already established audience (conspiracy theorists) these vitamin supplement shops and aggregates know that if they BUILD IT YOU WILL COME.

What are you trying to say

What are you trying to say here? My comment was a reply to The Emperor of the shills. Are you one of his sock puppets? You have a baby? Well since you have stated that on an anonymous forum I guess everything you say is true and accurate, thanks for the update. I will be stepping back in with the herd now thanks to your unfailing wisdom.

You missed the point

You missed the point entirely. I guess I'm the crazy one for questioning posters like Bill Duff. I'm just a foolish crazy SOB for ever taking issue with the fear mongering and paranoia that has caught on around here like the flu. Let me put it this way...ALL of this speculation is based on posters disregarding the professional and personal credibility of BRAWM. Personally if I was a member of the team watching these forums I think I'd be getting REALLY irritated watching one poster after another jump on the bandwagon and treat my professional opinion as if I was a mindless and soulless shill for the nuke industry. You have DUMBED down the issues at hand and turned this into a form of entertainment. "Let's go ride the rollercoaster at the BRAWM forum!!! Let's go and crap all over the credibility of Mark and Dchivers and connect the dots until we see a picture that isn't there and scream about how the sky is falling." I've taken issue with Bill because he seems to be a major instigator of all of this. Not because I have a personal vendetta.

BRAWM are not health

BRAWM are not health professionals, they will readily admit this. On the overall they are testing a tiny portion of the US and they appear to be the only people doing any real testing. Reports from Japan tell us there can be a great variation in rad levels from one house to the next.
Just because the levels on the Berkeley roof are low doesn't convince me that the levels are as low in the rest of the country or even a mile up the road.
We shouldn't worry though? In your "professional opinion" we should stop asking questions because it irritates you?

No one is crapping on their credibility.
This whole tirade seem to me like a red herring.

http://blog.granneman.com/2009/06/16/7-tools-of-propaganda/

Perhaps they appear to be

Perhaps they appear to be but they are NOT the only ones testing. Testing is being done all over the northern hemisphere..and the results are unanimous. Are you going to start telling me that the EPA...the DOE...the US govt...and every single person that works for these organizations...every journalist in the world are covering up the reality of the situation?

Every journalist in the

Every journalist in the world is testing?
The EPA is testing air only, with only 100 stations in the whole country.
The EPA monitors go off line the minute the readings climb above 200 cpm.

How many people...in the

How many people...in the know...would have to be willing to keep a secret? You see, this is the problem with secrets...they have a way of getting out. DO you really believe that independent monitoring hasn't been ongoing since this began? ALL over the US. How many politicians would have to be willing to sacrifice their friends and families health to keep it quiet. Do you really think the government isn't closely monitoring the levels...if not just for the presidents security and well being? This would have to be a cover up of EPIC and unbelievable proportions if the levels were anything BUT completely negligible right now.

It wouldn't be that hard,

It wouldn't be that hard, just raise the safe levels (even though there is no safe level-IAEA). Then, really let the media propaganda system do the rest.
I don't really know what the levels are except in Berkeley, the levels that they can test for. How about milk and tap water for the rest of the country?

Where is all this independent monitoring? Do we just have to take your word?

Bigger stuff than this has been covered up for longer.

40 years before the truth came out on this one, pretty big secret too. It helped to get us into the Vietnam war.

This would be a great

This would be a great question for BRAWM. I'm sure they have an idea of how valid the EPA's monitoring is and if there are other independent groups providing adequate monitoring. Mark? Anyone?

Check out the DEPARTMENT OF

Check out the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY'S openness website...there is a TON of research on the effects of fall-out that has spanned DECADES. There ARE established "safe levels". Otherwise what would the people that work with radiation EVERY day use as a guideline.

No safe level

There are levels established as acceptable risk.

Below 100mSv/yr there is not actual data of any use.

The levels are not entirely useful when it comes to fallout - they are based on measures of dose by rays, not by internal exposure from particles absorbed.

Amazing how so many 'experts' quote the levels in a totally inappropriate way to prove something that is not shown by the data.

Radiation Network, USA:

Radiation Network, USA: independent, monitors currently 14 locations in the USA – three around Seattle, one in California, update every minute

Last time I checked the

Last time I checked the RADNET was providing milk samples from all over the US.

You haven't checked in awhile, huh?

After a thorough data review showing declining radiation levels related to the Japanese nuclear incident, EPA has returned to the routine RadNet sampling and analysis process for precipitation, drinking water and milk.

As always, EPA's RadNet system of more than 100 stationary monitors will continue to provide EPA scientists near-real-time data on the slightest fluctuations in background radiation levels. Due to the consistently decreasing radiation levels, EPA is evaluating the need to continue operating the additional air monitors deployed in response to the Japan nuclear incident. EPA will continue to analyze air filters and cartridges from all air monitors as they arrive at the laboratory and will post the data as available.

In accordance with normal RadNet protocol, EPA will be analyzing milk and drinking water samples on a quarterly basis and precipitation samples as part of a monthly composite. The next round of milk and drinking water sampling will take place in approximately three months.

http://www.epa.gov/japan2011/index.html

Try again, unless quarterly testing is good for you.
