Tepico silences the Bells

Tepico silences the Emporer’s Alarm Bell, a Faerie Tale for children

Once upon a time, there was a lovely kingdom by the sea, named Nipponia. Nipponia was a very special place indeed, with the most beautiful bells in the world. Nipponia had many wonderful bells. Some of the bells were very ancient and some were very large. Many people say that Nipponia once had the oldest and largest bells, in all the world. The bell of Nipponia rang out in: triumph, alarm, battle, music, mourning and sometimes just for fun. All the people of Nipponia carried their own special little bell.

There were even magic bells in Nipponia. The Emporer had a very special magic bell, which could cause all the bells in the kingdom, to ring at once. If there was bad weather, enemy attack or other great danger the Emporer’s bell would ring and then all the other bells in the kingdom would begin to ring at once. And all the people knew there was danger, even the little children. The leaders, soldiers, police and parents could prepare for danger when they heard the bells. And all the children could go to the places of safety.

The wicked wizard Tepico hated the music of the bells. Tepico was afraid that the bells might betray all his evil plans. Tepico was especially afraid that the bells would ring if his dragons escaped. Late one night, when all the good little boys and girls were asleep, Tepico decided to silence all the bells, even the magic warning bell of the Emporer himself. And so the wicked wizard Tepico craftily hid the Emporers bell, by making it invisible.

And when the angry dragons F1DU, F2DU and F3DU escaped, all the bells were silent. And Tepico lied to all the people and all the ministers of Nipponia. Tepico said the dragons were safely in their dens. And because the bells of Nipponia were silent all the people believed Tepico. The three dragons were very angry, because of their mistreatment, by the foolish and evil Tepico. And they caused great destruction, without warning.

And all the children of Nipponia were very sad! Their schools were closed. The little boys and girls could not go outside and play. Their food became poisonous and their water became too dangerous to drink. Many were sick and had to leave their homes. The air became foul. The birds were too weak to fly or even finish their songs. The angry dragon F3DU and his sisters F1DU and F2DU scorched all the land. It was all very, very sad.
