Salmon update (3/5/2013)

3/5/2013 2:25pm: We have tested a sample of salmon from the Pacific Northwest that we purchased locally. No radioactive isotopes were detected from the reactors at Fukushima to very low limits. These results have been posted on the salmon section of our Food Chain page.

I've been away from this forum a while and don't know at what point you started adding the spectroscopy graphs (the "data" links), or perhaps it was there all along and I hadn't noticed, but that's fantastic that you have those available to us, thanks!

Yes, we've been providing those spectra all along so that those who were interested could find out more about gamma-ray spectroscopy, especially how high-purity germanium allows us to distinguish between different isotopes. Glad you enjoyed it!

Is this 2013 salmon? To my knowledge salmon season (at least in AK) is May-September.

Good to hear from you, BC. It was fresh salmon, not frozen, but I do not know exactly when it was caught.
