Reports of possible fission at Rector 2, today.

http://english.kyodonews.jp/news/2011/11/123952.html

Would they really have gone public with this, if it was just a possibility? Does this mean it's been going on all the while?

What does it mean... Corium 1, TEPCO and the world ZERO

It means the puny efforts to avoid A China Syndrome (an irreversible event where a molten core plunges into the crust of the earth creating a permanent radioactive volcano and possibly a Krakatoa type event) at reactor 2 have failed.

Japan, evacuate. West Coast, cover your garden this Winter and get in touch with friends in the Southern Hemisphere with whom you may want to become neighbors.

Wow, your lack of scientific

Wow, your lack of scientific knowledge is frightening. Instead of fear mongering you should read up on science.

SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE

If we stay with the false and vacuous world created by TEPCO, SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE has not a great deal of functionality, does it? So let's look for better sources....

Much of Japan is now on its way to being worse off than Belarus. Evacuate while you can.

I root for life. Even with my meager education. Of course it takes only common sense to realize that the TEPCO's corporate releases of limited and sanitized data will lead to only a predetermined state and frame of uncertainty when SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE is applied to their cherry-picked, massaged and often fraudulent information. God help us if they are only drinking their kool-aid and limited data set.

I choose to look beyond the corporate cleansed releases as they have often proved to be GARBAGE.

While TEPCO claims (when convenient or cornered) to be uncertain of the disposition of the corium in the THREE melt thru reactors, Japan's very own physicists believe the decent of the melted cores is well under way. All OF THE OBSERVED PHENOMENA FITS THE MODEL of a early China Syndrome.

Funny how the various government organs are backing up the financially driven IDIOCY of 'business as usual' and TEPCO's 'industrial secrets'.

Pure horse biscuits.

Sigh, money first, money always it seems.

From various sources.....

The Term china Syndrome was coined by Physicist Ralph E Lapp . in 1971
Professor Lapp, was an honorary member of the Manhattan Project, holding the position of the director of the metallurgical laboratory. He also can be referenced, in the general staffing of the US war department’s top adviser on Atomic Energy. As well as the Head of Nuclear physics, in the branch office in Naval Research. He is more recognized, for his views, on Nuclear Radiation Biology, and his term paper”A nuclear Reference Manual, Must we hide”…

In writing Nuclear Radiation Physics, He became an activist leader in life, writing the book: “Victims of the super bomb”;

In his understanding of nuclear physics was quite complete. He was one of the most accredited in the field and a overall a preeminent source for the united states, including our august Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

His term “China syndrome” was based on the idea of a catastrophic, meltdown of a nuclear reactor. Involving a loss of coolant accident. The scenario begins, when something causes the coolant level in the reactor pressure vessel, to drop uncovering all or part of the Nuclear fuel assembly. This scenario, is almost identical to what has already happened in Japan'. THREE TIMES.

The nuclear fuel assemblies, create a chain reaction termed as “fission”. It was in Professor Lapps opinion, that Nuclear fuel, in absence of coolant would continue to produce, significant residual heat for a number of days, due to further decay of fission products. If not properly cooled, the fuel assemblies, may soften and melt, falling to the bottom of the reactor vessel. There, without the coolant preventing enough of a chain reaction to reduce thermal temperature, The temperature of the molten fuel could increase to the point where it melts through the structures containing it. Such an unfortunate series of events could release vast amounts of radioactive nucleotides into the atmosphere, and ground. (also known as radioactive isotopes).

Back to Fukudai.......
So more water (with boron) is pumped in.... like spitting at a arc welder .....

We all see fear (of the unknown?) in and from observations of TEPCO and their handlers and enablers. It is so obvious. We should all take heed and look for the details they hide.

Pass the kool-aid ?

Cover our gardens and head

Cover our gardens and head for the southern hemisphere? Why should we pass the kool-aid when you are the one serving it? Welcome back, Red Mercury. I looked up your user handle on wikipedia. This is by far my favorite entry:

There was little agreement among believers in the story as to the exact nature or even color of the red mercury, while the supposed uses for it ranged from it being an essential component of nuclear power, to having the ability to summon jinn, extract gold, or locate buried treasure and perform other forms of magic. The official spokesman for the Riyadh police said that the rumors had been started by gangs attempting to swindle people out of their money, and denied the existence of red mercury in sewing machines.[24]|

or this one:

The term was adopted in the 1970s from red mercuric iodide (mercury(II) iodide) as part of several hoax substances of uncertain composition purportedly used in the creation of nuclear bombs, as well as a variety of unrelated weapons systems. Redmercuriciodide is a poisonous, scarlet-red, odorless, tasteless powder that is insoluble in water.[4] However, samples of "red mercury" obtained from arrested would-be terrorists invariably consisted of nothing more than various red dyes or powders of little value, which some suspect was being sold as part of a campaign intended to flush out potential nuclear smugglers. The hoax was first reported in 1979 and was commonly discussed in the media in the 1990s. Prices as high as $1,800,000 per kilogram were reported.[5]

Fears of Fission Rise at Stricken Japanese Plant

Lots of reports on this in

Lots of reports on this in different outlets, as per enews, e.g., http://enenews.com/just-in-nhk-alarming-readings-tepco-asking-japan-govt...

but what does it mean? is

but what does it mean? is there potential for explosion? does that mean a hole is boring toward the core of the earth? more radiation?

Radiation equal to 1000000000000000000000000000 airplane flights

Just for comparison purposes.

Scientific notation

I guess you never learned about scientific notation.

Of course, I have yet to meet an anti-nuke that knew much science.

Banana Equivalents

How many bananas does that work out to?

Or how many metric tonnes of bananas?

More radiation, absolutely.

More radiation, absolutely. But the people in charge will tell you it will never be enough to harm you, the public, the fauna, the flora or the fish.

Their livelihood depends on it.

Eat, drink and be marry.

1 kg

;(

1 kg max

The old lie was, 'no emissions are possible'; and what a grand lie that was. The new lie is, '1 kg can escape'; which is 1 kg closer to the truth.

The old lie was debunked years ago, but the new lie is going strong.
