I just bought a new camera manufactured in Japan and released in May. How could I find out if this camera is free of radiation contamination?

Until you are able to have it checked with a Geiger counter you need to follow
a simple precaution. Do not hold it closer than 3 feet from your face to avoid
harmful effects on your neuronic structure. Learn to point and shoot with a
proper arms length hold and you will have nothing to worry about. Otherwise
dig out your old Kodak to be safe.

... is BRAWM's reassurance that everything is fine, and there is no reason to test it. Or, you might buy a Geiger counter and find out for yourself.
