Japan trip and contamination

Dear everyone,

I've been planning my trip to Japan for past half year, and I'm going there in two weeks.
My itinerary is Tokyo - Kyoto - Hiroshima - and back (basically, most of my time there is south-west of Tokyo).

I really wanted to go, but now after reading a lot about radiation and contamination in the food, I even considered returning my ticket.
Some websites, like safecast.org and a facebook group http://www.facebook.com/Tokyo.Radiation.Levels both seem to be saying that there is no concern about radiation in Tokyo, but there might be some concern about the food.
However, another source http://fukushima-diary.com/ is telling me not to go right now.

I'm more for a yes, because this trip has been much looked forward to...
What would you say about the situation? Any insight would be much appreciated...

Also, I was thinking about buying a counter to measure the contamination in the food. What kind of counters would you suggest for a layman? (if any)

Thank you for all the input.
Filip

Geiger counter will give false reading....

Hello, you ask about a getting a geiger counter to give you read outs on food safety.

Please watch this video before you make that purchase. This video shows how regular geiger counters "can not" give you accurate readings on food radioactivity. Rather you need a much more powerful instrument that costs in the thousands of dollars.($5,000 to$10,000 is the cost of a device that can actually give you a true reading.)

Here is the link for the example testing.

I live in Osaka

I live Nishinomiya, Japan. I eat food grown and produced Japan everyday. I'm not worred in the slightest. Never was and there still isn't a radiation problem in the Kansai region (Kyoto) or further west (Hiroshima). I also would have no problem traveling to Tokyo with my wife and children.

Thank you for traveling to Japan.
