Gov't to cut R&D spending on nuclear fuel cycle program based on fast-breeder reactor
The Japanese government has decided to slash spending for research and development on the country's nuclear fuel cycle program based on a fast-breeder reactor (FBR) by 25 percent for fiscal 2012 -- a move that will effectively freeze its long-term plan to put the ambitious project to commercial use.
