Public policy on nuclear industry or any topic, depends on convincing the public. The engineers and scientists speak a different language and have a better technical background, but that is not the whole story.
A top nuclear physicist at a Tier 1 university always taught a couple of sections of business math. He said that those guys tend to make the decisions about funding of advanced research projects. If we can't convince them, of the value of our technical projects; the funding will die.
Right now, the global public, thinks the nuclear industry sucks. The public perceives a pack of liars, cheats, killers and theives in the reactor business bribing federal officeholders. I certainly cannot disprove that, because it is true. But that begs the question about the QUADS we need to keep things running.
It may not be necessary to convince LEO, but ad hominem attacks will not convince the public. Where are we going to get those QUADS?
