That is a very bad harbinger of disaster for Honshu children. It is the WORST possible trend line.
The public health, personal, economic and political consequences simply cannot be ignored.

If they had selected 350 people at the beginning and studied the evolution of the symptoms, then we could speak of an increase in sore throats and headaches within that group, but the way they are doing this is not the proper way of conducting epidemiological research.

The study has documented the medical base line conditions of more than 38,000 subjects. Various follow up protocols are typically followed up with appropriate scheduling, in any medical study.
Do you expect, every child to be checked for every condition, every month?
The base line studies allow detailed tracking of anomalies and follow on studies as appropriate. Many symptoms can be tracked and medical histories reviewed as symptoms occur. Community follow up where self-reporting has occured is quite common.
So for example, STD epidemics are often discovered through routine testing and self-reported symptoms. Next, contact tracing begins to establish the disease transmission parameters and 'at risk populations'. Next the regional public is informed of the epidemic and more widespread, focused testing begins.
The nuclear power industry, has consistently misrepresented the subject area. The nuclear industry has consistently stonewalled testing and result disclosure for individuals, groups, regions, foods, air, land and water. Having defiled the land, air water and persons with radioactive contagions and stalled testing; now they pick away at the growing body of evidence.
The nuclear industry continues to socially ostracize victims, professionals and communities for takng healthy steps. We have seen similar efforts by tobacco companies in the USA, via many mechanisms. The nuclear industry suppresive efforts in Japan, exploit the known Japanese social structures and behavioral norms. These diabolical fellows are quite skilled at what they do and they may prevail. Time will tell.
All the objections of the nuclear power industry, remain consistently arrogant and dangerously misguided. That trend is expected to continue, until these liars are brought to justice.

1) The official “Prefecture Health Management Survey” by Fukushima Prefecture, which, among other things, aims to survey the thyroid of all the kids in Fukushima Prefecture who were 18 or younger at the time of the accident. 38,000 kids have been screened so far. 2) The Fukushima Radioactive Contamination Symptoms Research (FRCSR) study, which is based on self reported symptoms by around 350 people all over Japan. The last report is from January. http://frcsr.blogspot.jp/
The FRCSR translated part of the official health survey (1) into English and it got published on their blog Fukushima Voice: http://fukushimavoice-eng.blogspot.jp/
However, it seems one American blogger thought the thyroid survey was being carried out by the FRCSR themselves, which is wrong and probably the source of the confusion:

In short, they thyroid data comes from the survey sponsored by Fukushima Prefecture. The reports about symptoms like headaches and sore throats comes from the FRCSR.
