"Development of High Uranium Density Fuel for Research and Test Reactors"

Presented By

Dr. Daniel M. Wachs
Irradiation Test Engineer
Nuclear Fuels and Materials Department
Idaho National Laboratory

An aggressive effort is underway to convert research reactors worldwide currently using highly enriched fuel to low enriched fuels. In a joint effort, Idaho National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory are actively developing advanced fuels to enable this mission. This comprehensive program that includes fabrication development, out-of-pile testing, irradiation testing, and fuel performance modeling will be discussed.
