Cristhian Galvez is a Ph. D. student in Nuclear Engineering interested in nuclear reactor Passive Safety system design and performance analysis.
His work is primarily on the development of natural circulation-driven Direct Reactor Auxiliary Cooling System (DRACS) applied to the Pebble Bed Advanced High Temperature Reactor (PB-AHTR). In addition, he works on the safety system performance analysis of the reactor design under postulated transients employing RELAP5-3D reactor simulation program.
Previous work involve the steady and transient thermal characterization of the Laser ICF Fission/Fusion Energy system (LIFE) in the transition from forced to natural circulation cooling mode within the pebble blanket. This work was performed in collaboration with R. Abbott and J. Latkowski from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
