Title: China Nuclear Power Industry – A Comparative Study

Abstract
China’s nuclear industry has been moving forward very slowly until now. Under the growing international pressure on China’s emission coupled with the domestic concern of energy security, has it has become the new national policy to accelerate the development of nuclear power, leading to the phenomenal change in China’s nuclear market as well as its nuclear industry. This presentation will talk about the past, present and future of the China nuclear market and industry, as well as the comparison against its counterparts in the US, Japan, France and South Korea.
Speaker Biography
Dr. Li has over 20 years of experience in nuclear power industry, providing technical and management consulting to many large nuclear companies (e.g., Westinghouse, Areva, and China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company), utilities (e.g., Entergy, EDF and Northern States Power), and research institutes (EPRI and INL) in the US, Europe and China. He involved in many advanced nuclear research projects, e.g., ALWR, NGNP, and SOARCA. He developed several computer codes for safety related analyses, one of which – STARNAUA – was used in AP1000 containment fission product analysis. He performed analyses for the certification of AP1000, EPR, PBMR and the NuScale design. He also built economic model for the financial analysis of new nuclear power plant investment for EDF. Dr. Li received PhD from Stanford University and MBA from Wharton School of Business.
